This week, the children have been very busy learning how to look after and take responsibility for our shared learning resources. One of the strategies we use in Pre-Kindy and Kindy is our "Choose it, use it, put it away" action song.
At the end of a learning session, the children are supported by the adults to sort and pack away our toys and equipment whilst chanting:
Choose it!
Use it!
Put it away!
Did you know that packing away is a great opportunity for learning! Mathematical concepts such as counting, patterning, and sorting objects can be explored. And, returning books to the book shelf 'correctly' is a perfect opportunity for early literacy learning. Children can learn about book features (such as the Title and front cover) and the direction of print (from left to right in English).
